Sliding Window - Customer's Clever Invention
Now as you may know (from our previous blogs and the website) you can't use the CMC unit with sliding windows. You could use the brackets but then you can't close the window... Not closing the window means the internal fan will draw in warm, moist air from outside through the cooling fins thereby reducing the efficiency. However this doesn't stop our customers from trying! We've seen many configurations but the latest one is a really ingenious design.
A couple of months ago we had a customer into our showroom who had asked if he could see if the internal evaporator unit would fit through the sliding window of his VW T6 (he had the measurements but had to see if he could lift it and place inside without the brackets first). He realised he wouldn't be able to close the window but he was determined to give it a go and work out a solution!
Via emails we received images of his creation. He'd manufactured a white panel which fits neatly into the gap of the window (when fully open) and the umblical cord passes through the specially created slit. This creates a completely sealed window and ensures maximum cooling.
Such a neat and clever idea! The customer belongs to the VW Club and said he would pass on this information to members, or indeed show them.
Yet another example of a customer's determination and ingenuity.
